A new study is out showing the diet link between moms and their babies. See: Moms Who Eat High-Fat Diet Before, During Pregnancy ‘Program’ Babies to Be Fat, at Risk, Mouse Study Shows
The study shows:
babies born to moms who eat a high-fat diet before and during pregnancy have a higher fat mass and smaller livers than babies whose moms consume low-fat fare
This is just further proof of the effects a bad diet can have on the body. It’s one thing when you eat and the effects only concern you, but when it involves another child, you need to buckle down for a short 9 months of your life and give your child every chance at a long healthy life.
The article continues to state:
Previous research has shown babies who receive too much or too little nutrition in the womb experience profound and permanent changes in their development — including alterations in the structure of the liver, brain and pancreas — that increase their susceptibility to developing various diseases later in life, including obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Common sense tells us that if what you eat affects the development of your child, then it is going to affect you too. Do you want underdeveloped organs? If you want your body to run at its best, you need to feed it fuel. You need to stop eating for pleasure, and start thinking of food as fuel for your body.
If you want pleasure, you need to start looking to activities other than eating. Eating for pleasure is a sure way towards a path to obesity and a short life.
Do what’s best for you. Do what’s best for your child. Do what’s best so that the people who care for you can continue to have you in their lives.
